Being Unique is Unique

31 Jul

People say we should just go with the flow. People said that would be easier. It would lessen your burdens. It would make your life more manageable. But think about it this way, what if you don’t like the path of the flow? Would you still follow it or would you have the courage to oppose it? If you ask me, I would definitely stand firm and oppose the flow. I would definitely fight and do what I want. What if the flow is really opposite of your principles? Would you still follow it? Of course not! You should have what it takes to fight for your own will.

I want to have my own will. I don’t want anyone to take it away from me. This will is the only thing that gives me my own actions. It gives me the privilege to be me. It gives me the freedom I was yearning for. My will is my will. Everyone’s will is different. Self-will is the element that gives you the options you will choose from to survive in your life. This self-will controls what we do. If we lose it, you will be like a puppet controlled by other’s will. Am I right? If you agree with me, then good and follow on to know the information about it. If you don’t please continue reading and let me prove it to you.

Self-will is the key to one’s authority. If someone snatches it from you, he/ she have the authority to control you. It is like he/ she is your master and you can’t do anything when he orders you around. What if you don’t like the order? Will you still push through it or will you gain back your self-will? Why don’t you think about it?

That is why I don’t like to go with the flow sometimes because sometimes it opposes your beliefs. Having your self-will makes you unique. It makes you who you are and distinct to every other person in this world. Even identical twins have separate self-will. This is what helps us to distinguish them. For example, what if there is only one face in the whole world and it will be the face of mankind. How can we separate and distinguish each other? Simply by using self-will. Being unique isn’t such a bad thing. It is actually much better than copying or mimicking someone.

It is easier said than done because sometimes, it’s just the way it is. You have to bend with them so you won’t break. You need to conform to them so you won’t be hurt, bullied, and whatever peer pressures out there. You know you’re right but everyone else is doing it, so why not give a try? We want to be cool. We want to be part of the “in crowd”. What’s worse in here is that, it is a big no-no to voice out your beliefs. If your beliefs are not same with their beliefs, you’re out. Sometimes, you want to break free from them but you worry that you’re life will be ruined without them. Which is not true. Get out of your shell. Do not compromise your beliefs just to be “cool” and “in”. If you keep on trying to be like them, then eventually you would lose your identity. Don’t let that happen, because you are wonderful in your own ways. “Cool” disappears after high school.
